Motorcycle Owners Should Purchase Medical Payments Coverage

Do you own a motorcycle? Who is going to pay your bills if you are involved in an accident? If you live in Southwest Florida and drive a motorcycle, make certain you purchase Medical Payments Coverage from your insurance carrier.

In Florida, Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Coverage only applies to bodily injury sustained in a motor vehicle accident by the named insured, relatives residing in the same household, persons operating the insured motor vehicle and pedestrians struck by the insured motor vehicle. The PIP coverage will pay for 80% of your reasonable medical expenses up to $10,000.00. If you are on a motorcycle at the time of the accident, the Florida PIP law does not afford you this coverage.

This is why it is very important that you purchase medical payments coverage on your motorcycle. In my opinion, you should purchase as much as you can afford. If you are injured on your motorcycle, Medical Payments coverage will cover your medical expenses up to the limits of the policy, regardless of fault. Many insurance companies in Florida offer Medical Payments coverage for motorcycles. If you own a motorcycle, contact your insurance company today to learn how to upgrade your coverage. You will be surprised by how affordable the coverage is and hopefully you will feel more secure knowing you are protecting yourself should an accident occur. You will thank me later.
