Bayer Pharmaceuticals May Face Mass Tort Claims for Yaz & Yasmin Birth Control Pills
Bayer Pharmaceuticals may face some very tough legal challenges ahead as many trial lawyers begin to file lawsuits against the German drug and chemical maker. It seems that Bayer's Yaz is alleged to be the next generation of birth control. However, there have been some reports that the drug presents dangerous risks to users and that the company may not have provided adequate warnings to the public.
Yasmin was approved by the FDA in 2001, and Yaz was approved by the FDA in 2006. Both drugs claim to be different from any other birth control pills. The company has been warned about it's advertisements and the claims being made about the drugs.
Plaintiff's are starting to come forward and Trial lawyers are beginning to investigate their claims of gallbladder damage, kidney stones, deep vein thrombosis, heart attacks and other ailments. It seems that some users of Yaz and Yasmin experience an increase in potassium because of the diuretic effect of the drospirenone. Drospirenone is a diuretic, which could lead to hyperkalemia.
If you used Yaz or Yasmin in the past or are currently using the drug for Acne or Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, it is urged that you have your physician check your potassium levels. If you believe that you were injured as a result of your use of one or both of these drugs, please contact our office immediately for a free consultation.
